Peter Van Scozza, founder of PSQ, is a freelance musician entertaining with a beautiful eighteenth century French violin in many of the area’s banquet and senior facilities. He is also the organist at three Lutheran churches. Van Scozza, whose father designed the Sabres, Tops, National Fuel Gas and M&T trademarks, spends his free time collecting fine art, which is often viewed at bridal appointments at his Orchard Park studio.
EJ Koeppel can be heard playing jazz violin with the Hot Club of Buffalo at such venues as the Roycroft, Pausa Art House and the Lewiston Jazz Festival, among others. Check out their website schedule and take your fiancé out for an evening of jazz improvisations with PSQ’s top violinist! Western New York’s two time award winning jazz violinist enjoys cruises, golfing and travels to Europe several times a year.
Ted Smeltz’ music library is the backbone of PSQ’s pop repertoire and is certainly the most extensive collection of pop quartet music in Buffalo. A very capable arranger, he has accommodated many bride’s special music requests with his own quartet scores. Always first on the job, Ted, Mr. Reliability, prepares every detail with bridal coordinators, bridal parties and banquet managers, as well as queuing up all the quartet music for the special day. He enjoys singing, acting in, and conducting local stage productions.
David Meyer, our cellist, performs throughout the area with his wife, Felicia, in a Celtic group call Kindred. They share their talents playing guitars, singing, and playing folk Masses at Saint Martin’s and other South Buffalo churches. He plays the cello like a fiddle (he’s simply amazing!), and has a studio of over sixty private cello students.
The whole group can play all the standard pop and classical repertoire from memory – without music – taking whatever requests are asked for at receptions and the like. Let me recount a wedding when at the last minute, the bride changed her mind about her entrance music. EJ listened to the song on YouTube and, within minutes, taught it to the quartet, playing his part by ear, right in style, and much to the bride’s happiness!
Duo strolling violins are available for cocktail and/or dinner hours.
